Jacinta O'Brien 10k, formerly known as the Plassey 10k

FAMILY FRIENDLY, FITNESS FRENZY!!!

Come and Join the FUN with us and partake in a 10K Charity road race in aid of S.A.D.S by wheeling, walking, jogging or running!

Be one of the first 300!

First 300 to register will receive a bag of goodies including a 2010 Jacinta O’Brien 10k memorial T-shirt sponsored by River Rock.

 Also with that in mind, upon finishing the race you will receive a recovery drink and a bar of chocolate for all your good efforts as well as supporting our cause.

Warm up to music in the plaza

Try out an exciting new style of warm up for this event catering for all fitness levels with Richie Clifford from the infamous Total Body workouts. Not only will this warm up mobilize your joints, raise your pulse and stretch you out, but  this enthusiastic, energetic, upbeat cardio-choreographed aerobic warm up will prepare you for the event ahead and might even give you a smile if you haven’t tried it before.

Rush, Race, Run and Register before the Deadline!

You can either download a registration form on the Registration tab above or send it in to us here at the University Sports Arena or register with us (Sport Science Students) most nights of the week from 6-9pm at the Arena or even request a form at the desk and they will be more than happy to look after you.

Also you can register the Saturday the night before from 6-9pm or the morning of the race from 9am until 12.30am (2hrs before the start of the race)

Avoid the deadline and be there at the finish line!

No registration will be accepted after 12am for time management and organisational purposes.

On a personal note

VOLUNTEERS NEEDED FOR JACINTA O'BRIEN 10K RUN 2010

INFORMATION
 
Duties: Course marshals, Checking the gear of runners, Distribution oftime chips, Removal and collection of time chips, Helping with set-up, Processing registration, Running of water aid stations, Helping serve water and refreshments, Volunteer sign-in, Providing information/direction, Greeting participants and spectators, helping with traffic control, Finish line attendents, Distribution of awards and helping with clean up.

In email MUST state: Volunteer sign up, Your Name, Your Address, Contact Details and Conformation that you will be attending.
 
Race time Commitment: 10am-8pm (however volunteers may be dismissed at earlier times)
 
Volunteer Sign In and Up Stand opens at 10am and closes by 11.30 am
 
Volunteer Orientation is at 12pm at UL Sports Arena
 
First wave of runners begins at 2pm Sharp
 
All Volunteers MUST sign in
 
All Volunteers MUST attend Orientation
 
All Volunteers MUST collect the following from the Volunteers stand: Volunteer T-Shirt, Course Map, jacket, FAQs, Job Assignment and Job Description.
 
Volunteers should wear comfortable warm dry clothes.  Shorts, hats (Summer wear) and Sun screen are optional.  It is Advised for volunteers to bring own refreshments (optional) as limited amounts may be provided.
 
REMEMBER this race is for CHARITY!!! So all Volunteers are WELCOME!

Training

In order to achieve the most efficient and effective training prior to this event, there is an opportunity available to follow a professional training programme with the UL arena . This is well worth doing and will prepare runners from every level to achieve their best on the day.
